CT scanners from diagnostic departments are often used for radiotherapy applications. These CT scanners are generally equipped with concave couch. To overcome the problems caused by the difference in geometry between concave couch and flat simulator or linear accelerator couch tops, Radon Medical Ltd. Co. produces removable flat carbon fiber CT couch top. It simply locks onto the original CT couch and can be removed at anytime.
Carbon fiber CT couch top is made of low density foam, covered with thin layers of carbon fiber. This construction is very rigid and lightweight, so the CT top can be handled easily by one person. Because of the low absorption of the materials used, the carbon fiber CT couch top does not influence the quality of the CT images.
